A Misfortune is a new musical being written by the creative team that wrote Hero & Leander (book: Kevin Michael Shea, lyrics: Wade Bogert-O’Brien, music: Scott Christian). Based on the Anton Chekhov short story of the same, this musical is the story of an adulterous affair between the lovely, although married Sofya Petrovna and her long-time friend Ivan Mihalovitch. Chekhov’s writing allows for humour, tragedy, drama and wit to abut each other and this short story provides ample fare upon which to base a musical. Click here for the complete original short story.
